The Ayurveda method of healing and wellbeing is one of the world's oldest holistic systems, dating back more than 5,000 years ago here in India. Incorporated in the Atharva Veda, the last of the four Vedas it is based on the idea of balance in our bodily system. Ayurveda works on the basis that every person is made of five basic elements found in the universe: space, air, fire, water, and earth.
If your mind, body, and spirit are in harmony with the universal energy, you will have good health. When something disrupts this balance such as injury, emotions, age, seasonal change or even lifestyle, you will become unwell. The five elements combine in the human body to make three life forces “doshas”. We all have a unique combination of the doshas but one dosha is usually more prominent and this throws off our balance.
