Inspired by Contemporary Dance, Yoga and somatic practices such as experiential anatomy Tai Chi and Chi Gung, Therapeutic Dance gives the mind a rest, and the body a treat, allowing the ‘body-mind’ to rebalance, and recharge; reawakening the sensuous joy of being alive

Ground, Connect, Transend…..

Therapeutic Dance incorporates meditation, yoga, experiential anatomy and imagery to guide participants into rediscovering the too-often forgotten, deep connection to our bodies, with which we were born

We will explore the different systems and layers of the body (organs, tissues, liquid, respiratory, lymphatic, skeletal etc.) listening to how connecting with these systems, specifically, can bring about new movement experiences. We will also explore the fundamental human developmental patterns we experienced in utero and as babies, learning to crawl, walk, stand and run, growing from these into more complex movement ideas.

Individually and in groups we will attempt to find the space between inner connectivity and outer expression using free-form improvisation as well as set movement patterns from contemporary dance, yoga asanas and Tai Chi, using these techniques to fall artfully, fly gracefully and travel in new ways.

Using music and each other, at our own unique pace, we will find our own unique dances, that emerge from a true connection to our internal landscape, reaching a place of ease, flow and fun, moving with the innate wisdom of our bodies.

Note: Participants are required to wear loose comfortable clothing, to bring water and to notify the teacher of any recent injuries or physical ailments.
