Guru Smt. Kasturi Pattanaik

Guru Smt. Kasturi Pattanaik is one of the original thinkers and innovative interpreters of Odissi, Classical Indian Dance. Deeply associated with the Odissi Research Centre (ORC) in Bhubaneswar, particularly in its choreography and students training for two decades. She had the advantage of working with all the senior most exponents of Odissi dance and Odissi music: Late Raghunath Dutta, Late Padma Vibhushan Guru Kelucharan Mohapatra, Padmashree Smt. Kumkum Mohanty and Padmashree Gangadhar Pradhan. After her outstanding stint at ORC, she joined Sankalp in New Delhi as its Program Director.

Guru Smt. Kasturi Pattanaik has left a deep imprint in the evolution of Odissi Dance in its contemporary format through her new creations. She has introduced new concepts, new ideas, new techniques, new co-ordination and new themes in Odissi Dance repertory. She is known as an excellent trainer and teacher in Odissi Dance. She has also integrated Odissi music in its original and undiluted format into her own innovative and imaginative compositions and choreographies in Odissi dance.
