Embodying Critical Situation: Movement improvisation workshop by Abhilash Ningappa

His Workshop is focused on Improvisation working on fundamentals like breath, speed and energy, involving the core structure of the body influenced by different methods of kalari payattu and other martial arts combined, focusing mainly on dancers relationship with the space and the people around. The practice is about identifying our way of expressing into certain situations like a moment of confrontation, dealing ,accepting and mainly reacting. Inventing a score to create an incident and let the body react and mind follows and other way around. Using senses to provoke emotions created through incidents. Identifying the space filled with accumulated information through movement and research. We experience reaction through various tasks and scores, to disengage mind from body and observing the reaction of body, recollecting or replaying the incident and to identify it with a new perspective, the new is nothing but a combination of various memories played in different time and space which is changing and passing every moment. Bringing feeling and letting the body occupy and transfer, letting it pass in order to give space for the next incident. Running from incident to incident, going through different emotional state, identifying the presence and absence, and identifying the state of mind and body through these different emotional state.

Ground, Connect, Transend with Nathaniel Parchment…..

Therapeutic Dance incorporates meditation, yoga, experiential anatomy and imagery to guide participants into rediscovering the too-often forgotten, deep connection to our bodies, with which we were born

We will explore the different systems and layers of the body (organs, tissues, liquid, respiratory, lymphatic, skeletal etc.) listening to how connecting with these systems, specifically, can bring about new movement experiences. We will also explore the fundamental human developmental patterns we experienced in utero and as babies, learning to crawl, walk, stand and run, growing from these into more complex movement ideas.

Individually and in groups we will attempt to find the space between inner connectivity and outer expression using free-form improvisation as well as set movement patterns from contemporary dance, yoga asanas and Tai Chi, using these techniques to fall artfully, fly gracefully and travel in new ways.

Flying low and Contemporary dance workshop with Prashant More.

Prashant More will conduct a dance workshop which will unfold in two parts, Flying Low Technique and Contemporary Dance.

Flying low Technique focuses mainly on dancer’s relationship with the floor, utilizing simple movement patterns which explore cohesion and expansion. Contemporary Dance will give an insight of different Movement, techniques and methods, inspired and blended largely with different kinds of Floor-work Technique, using Body in Space and influences of Acrobat and B-boying.

Intensively, this workshop deals with transformation of movement and building up of deep dance vocabularies, forming one energy that binds all, with non-judgmental but a friendly approach. Further, there is room to experience and explore your own movement language and style through various tasks/methods and Improvisation sessions. Understanding spaces and body control and exchange of weights with partner/contact work (relationship with the partner) and working in relation to different bodies will also be integrated in this workshop.

Although very physical, the class will follow a clear structure never breaking the flow but systematically guiding one from the beginning to the end, maintaining a synergy of one energy through body and mind.

Using music and each other, at our own unique pace, we will find our own unique dances, that emerge from a true connection to our internal landscape, reaching a place of ease, flow and fun, moving with the innate wisdom of our bodies.

Note: Participants are required to wear loose comfortable clothing, to bring water and to notify the teacher of any recent injuries or physical ailments.
